Lead your nursery in creating sustainable impact

Launched in 2021, the aim of this course is to explore how to introduce the principles of sustainability through teaching and learning, process and practice, enabling staff to become Green Champions in Early Years settings.

Course details

The course has six modules and is delivered every two weeks in four-hour interactive online sessions via Zoom. It is accessible to Early Years professionals working anywhere.

Course length: 6 modules taught over 12 weeks made up of 4-hour sessions per fortnight

2024 Dates:

Cohort 1: 5th April running until 14th June

Cohort 2: 6th September running until 15th November

(Dates may be subject to change.)

Timings: Fortnightly on Friday mornings from 9am until 1pm

Entry requirements

You must be currently working in an Early Years setting.
Course participants must have access to a laptop or tablet.

£550 (£100 deposit due upon enrolment and remaining £450 due two weeks before start of course)

Course outline

Module 1 – Build a holistic sustainability approach through the pedagogy, policies and provision of the setting.

Module 2 – Understand how sustainable practice can impact the Early Years sector.

Module 3 – Be able to identify how you can apply the principles of reuse, recycle and repair.

Module 4 – Develop routine procedures for sustainability in Early Years practice, with particular reference to how we can decrease food waste and consumption of materials and resources.

Module 5 – Be able to teach respect and responsibility in relation to sustainability.

Module 6 – Develop a reflective approach towards placing sustainability at the heart of policy and practice.

The course was very informative and I had gained a lot of knowledge around sustainability in Early Years that I didn’t really think of or know before. It’s taught me the importance of sustainability and how we can embed this with children.
