June O’Sullivan MBE

Chief Executive

As CEO, June has led the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) since 2006. An inspiring speaker, author and regular media commentator on Early Years, social business and child poverty, June has been instrumental in achieving a major strategic, pedagogical and cultural shift for the award winning LEYF, resulting in an increased profile, new childcare model and stronger social impact over the past 15 years. June was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours in 2013, for her services to London’s children.

Mike Abbott

Director of Operations

Mike joined LEYF in January 2018. He has over 30 years of commercial experience in drinks sales, food retail and Early Years nurseries. Operating at Director level for Aldi food stores in both purchasing and logistics roles, Mike moved into a Store Operations role at the Co-op where he was responsible for 165 convenience food stores, before moving to lead the newly acquired Childcare Nursery business as it grew from 6 to 51 Ofsted Outstanding or Good nurseries. Mike was also a member of the Midcounties Co-op Executive team and has been a Board Member of the National Day Nurseries Association. Mike holds an MBA at the University of Warwick.

Kevin Dyson

Finance and Transformation Director

Kevin Dyson joined LEYF in 2020 and heads up the Finance and IT teams. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloittes, Kevin has over 30 years’ experience in senior Finance and Operational roles, including 12 years in Private Equity backed, healthcare and education businesses, such as Witherslack Group, ICP Nurseries and Tunstall Healthcare. Prior to that, Kevin worked for a global mobile phone service provider, and for various divisions of GE Capital in the UK, US and France.

Clare Henderson

Financial Controller

Clare is a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant with over 20 years’ experience, across a range of industries including financial services, music, sports and media. Clare moved into the not-for-profit sector in 2012 when she joined LEYF as Financial Controller. After leaving in 2016 to raise a family, Clare returned to LEYF in 2020 as Head of Finance and is now responsible for the financial reporting, payroll, financial controls, and forecasting & budgeting function.

Lorenzo Chiozzi

Director of People & Performance

Lorenzo is a Human Resources leader with experience in change management, talent management, start-up and fast growth business across Europe. Lorenzo joined LEYF in March 2017. A qualified lawyer, he practised law in Milan before moving into HR and people management. He is ACIPD and MSc qualified and has worked for more than 25 years in HR Management and strategic roles at Mitsubishi Electric, Boston Scientific, BASF, Robert Bosh and KONE. LEYF is his first role in the not-for-profit sector.

Sally Clark

Head of Marketing & Communications

Sally has headed up the Marketing & Communications function at LEYF since 2018. She leads on digital and offline marketing and advertising, external and internal communications, website and brand. Sally previously worked in the charity sector for over 15 years including roles at senior level at Blood Cancer UK and National Children’s Bureau. Before moving to the not-for-profit sector, she spent 15 years in senior roles as a journalist on national publications. Sally holds an MSc in Charity Marketing & Fundraising from Bayes (previously Cass) Business School.

Samantha Creme

Director of Strategy & Business Development

Sam joined LEYF in April 2021 to support our ambition to scale our social impact by providing more children with access to high quality and affordable Early Years education and continuously innovating to enrich their experiences. She studied Civil Engineering in Canada, and since moving to London has worked at both operations (Stroud International) and Strategy (Bain & Co) Consulting firms. At Bain & Co., Sam worked in the private equity team on commercial diligences and also partnered with clients to integrate Sustainability into their core strategy to lead their respective industries in the energy transition.

Grace Essex

Head of Executive Office

Grace provides direct support to the Chief Executive, as well as leading on event management, Trustees and governance, and ensuring the smooth running of LEYF Central Office. Grace joined LEYF in 2017 and has over ten years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector, including senior administrative roles in youth homelessness, community development, town planning, counter-extremism and prisoner rehabilitation.
