Located in the heart of Maida Vale, close to Maida Vale and Kilburn Park Underground stations, our nursery has been beautifully refurbished in 2026. Set within a characterful period property full of original features, it combines the charm of a historic building with bright, modern learning spaces. Families also benefit from a dedicated drop-off area, making arrivals and pick-ups easier and safer.
One of the nursery’s standout features is its large, well-established garden. This inspiring outdoor space is a natural extension of the classroom, giving children the freedom to run, climb, explore, grow plants, discover wildlife and enjoy imaginative play every day. We believe time outdoors is essential for children’s wellbeing, confidence and development, and our garden provides endless opportunities to learn through play in every season.
Our experienced team plans each day around children’s interests, balancing free play with purposeful activities that inspire curiosity and creativity. Children might make wooden toys and props, cook in our home corner, take part in science experiments, grow fruit and vegetables, or search for insects in our garden ‘jungle’. Every day brings new opportunities to discover, create and learn.
Our on-site chef prepares freshly made, healthy meals and snacks each day using LEYF’s seasonal menu, helping children build positive relationships with food from an early age.

Selamawit, nursery manager
Hello, my name is Selamawit and have I been at Carlton Hill Nursery & Pre-School since 2009. I took over as manager in 2014. My favourite memory during my time at Carlton Hill is helping a child with special needs secure extra hours to match his one-to-one sessions.

Food and nutrition at LEYF
Healthy eating is important at LEYF. Our chefs, trained at our Early Years Chef Academy, understand children’s specific nutritional needs, and how to encourage children to be adventurous in their tastes. We cater for different dietary requirements and allergies.
