Rated Outstanding by Ofsted, Old Kent Road Nursery and Pre-School (formerly Bird in Bush) provides Early Years education and childcare to children from birth to 5 years old. You can find us in Old Kent Road in Peckham, close to South Bermondsey station. We’re a spacious, airy setting, with separate rooms for different age groups and two gardens.
No day is ever the same with us! The children enjoy science experiments, messy arts play, construction, gardening, cooking and much more. Our caring, experienced team will make sure your child feels safe and secure from their very first day.
We have strong links to the local community and many of our parents actually attended the nursery themselves!
The nursery’s on-site chef prepares home-cooked meals and snacks from LEYF’s nutritious menu.

We also offer parents at this nursery the option of choosing shorter days for your child – 8am until 4pm. This will save you 20% on standard full-day nursery fees. Just get in touch with us at customerservices@leyf.org.uk.

Chelsea, nursery manager
Hello, my name is Chelsea and I have been with LEYF since 2019. I have been manager of Old Kent Road Nursery since 2021. Helping people develop and learn has always been a passion of mine. I believe in creating an environment that is fun and harmonious for all. My nursery is special because we cater for everyone and constantly look at ways we can improve, to ensure we put children at the heart of everything we do.

Food and nutrition at LEYF
Healthy eating is important at LEYF. Our chefs, trained at our Early Years Chef Academy, understand children’s specific nutritional needs, and how to encourage children to be adventurous in their tastes. We cater for different dietary requirements and allergies.
