Men in Childcare

LEYF has been campaigning for more Men in Childcare for the last eight years. We are proud that 8% of our workforce are male compared to a national average of just under 3%. Recently we attended the EECERA Conference in Greece to present our research conducted with the University of Wolverhampton on what children think of men in childcare. And you know what? They don’t care if their teachers are male or female, they just want whoever is best at an activity.

Programme! LEYF has a 8.2% male workforce. that's well above the sector average of 3%

  • 12-18 month training programme working with under 5s
  • £12,000-£16,000 annual salary
  • Wage increase in year two*
  • Oyster card travel discount (age 16-25)
  • Guaranteed interview for LEYF teacher post upon successful completion of course
  • First step towards starting a rewarding career in early years.
