Job Description

Bird in Bush Nursery is currently recruiting a Kitchen Assistant with particular knowledge of allergens and cross-contamination to join their team. As the Kitchen Assistant, you will support the chef to prepare nutritionally well-balanced meals and general housekeeping duties to help maintain a safe and healthy environment. This role will be Monday to Friday 11.30am – 2.30pm.

Our Bird in Bush Nursery located in Southwark has fantastic transport links to Central London and the surrounding areas, there is also free parking nearby. The nursery itself is a multi-cultured, friendly setting and has a large garden that is used every day to extend children’s experiences and knowledge in outdoor learning.

Job Requirements

  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Good hygiene practices
  • Ability to assess all stages of the food preparation process in accordance with HACCP
  • Children’s dietary requirements (Understand the importance of following the guidelines within the Healthy eating and Allergy Policies)
  • Experience in a busy kitchen
  • A positive and proactive attitude to work

  • 1 Baby Room, 1 Toddler Room, 1 Preschool
  • 55 place Nursery
  • Opening Times: 7.30am-6.30pm
  • Over 2s garden comprises of a tool station, planting area, mud kitchen and enclosed climbing frame, tunnel, balancing beams.
  • The Old Kent Road will be under regeneration in the next few years to develop the Baker Loo line the station will be a stone’s throw from the nursery.
